FI into fast revolt

For the revolt enjoyers that want to revolt without the Brazilian flavour, here is a build order for you. Indonesia is the revolt that has the highest tempo with this build, but other revolts besides Brazil are viable.

Game plan :

Behind the cover of a fort and your TC, reach the industrial age in a timely manner and revolt for a big timing on your opponent.

Age I :

14/20 TP+house

Age up with philosopher prince

Transition : Chop 150 wood and mine 50 coins (split your villagers 67%/33% wood/coin). Research hunting dogs. Put all villagers back to food. Queue 2 villagers. Sell excess food to get at least 290 coins.

Age II :

Ship 700 coins. Collect 1200 food and 1000 coins and age up with the exiled prince (faster age up).

In transition to age 3 build a church.

Age III :

Ship the fort wagon and 1000 coin back to back as soon as possible. Train settlers until you have 20. Then idle your TCs to get to age 4 faster. The 1000 wood shipment will arrive soon. Once you have 2000 food and 1000 coin, age up with the Tycoon.

In transition collect food. Train one settler out of each of your town centre. These settlers will have the time to pay their cost back and a little extra by the time you revolt. Then, keep stockpiling food unless you revolt to Peru/Colombia.

Age 4 and revolt :

Ship the 2 heavies and macro for a revolt. Revolt when the two heavies arrive.

Once you have revolted train military units out of your town centre. Burn all your stockpiled food.

Ship units depending on the reaction of your enemy. Keep your heavy canons alive at all costs. Train priests if needed.

Who to revolt with ?

  • Indonesia : Highest tempo since you receive 4 discount flaming arrows upon revolting. However, your settlers are converted into glorified pikemen instead of revolutionaries. Does not like dragoons. Better variety of water shipments. Has Chinese immigrants to take advantage of a trade line.
  • Peru : Benefits the most from a high number of settlers pre-revolt. 2nd lowest tempo. Only two big tempo shipments (Peruvian legion & 33 insurgentes). After that can only sustain agression by sending an economic shipment (citizenship OR morrochucos) and then shipping fattened llamas. Better than indonesia if the enemy replies with musks+culverins as Peruvian legion makes revolutionaries trade better against these units.
  • Colombia : Very bad tempo as your settlers convert to an extremely slow unit. Only to consider if your enemy hits you with a timing on his own and is already in your base. While insanely slow, independence guards are more rounded than revolutionaries. Good reboom potential as you have a factory wagon in your deck and can ship steamers to fish the sea. Extreme niche usage.
  • Brazil : use this other build instead. Economic FI into Brasil | Strategies | AOE 3 Home City
  • Barbary state : Meh. Low tempo unless folk heroes is researched. Mediocre water shipments. More of a flex option to use when you have already sealed a game.
